As 2018 comes to a close, we’re inspired by our amazing customers to reflect on how grateful we are to serve them and help them keep the promises they made to their loved ones to help them financially from afar.
To date, we’ve helped over 1 million customers, and we’ve grown our presence to 40 countries across Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and South America, with nearly 600 send-to-receive corridor combinations.
We’ve had a great 2018 and want to highlight some of the biggest moments throughout the year that have allowed us to help even more people around the world.
Year in Review 2018
February 2018 – Forbes added us to their Fintech 50, a list of innovative companies who are paving the way for using and sending money more easily. (Original article)
April 2018 – We made sending money to loved ones in Colombia and El Salvador even easier by partnering with TransNetwork for additional pickup locations through Grupo Exito (over 250 locations) and Remesas y Pagos CUSCA (over 600 locations). (Press release)
May 2018 – We expanded our services to Australia to help immigrant communities there send money to loved ones. We also announced a nearly doubled annualized volume of over $5 billion. (Press release)
June 2018 – We released the results from our 2018 Immigrant Sentiment survey and revealed that 9 out of 10 immigrants in the U.S. recommend relocating to the U.S. and believe the American Dream is still possible. (Press release)
August 2018 – We increased our 24-hour send limit to India to $30,000. Also, critically-acclaimed actor R. Madhavan became a Remitly Brand Ambassador. (Original article)
September 2018 – We announced a major expansion to 11 new send countries across Europe, helping more immigrant communities across Europe send money easily online. These European countries include Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. (Original article)
September 2018 – Our partnership with Moneytrans now helps our customers send to over 4,000 locations across Africa. (Original article)
October 2018 – To keep our customers’ transactions even safer and more secure, we partnered with Signal Sciences to implement new web defense technology. (Press release)
December 2018 – We announced our dramatic expansion to nearly 600 new send-to-receive corridors and the rollout of new service enhancements to our product, to help make the process of sending money internationally faster, easier, more transparent, and less costly for immigrant communities around the world. In 2019 we want to help even more people send money to their loved ones wherever they are in the world. The money our customers send make a world of difference for those on the receiving end, and we want to make this as easy as possible.
